The basement evolving....(part 1)
So the basement has been evolving over time. Removal of a very large, very heavy shelving unit that was attached to the wall (his mom had photos of all the kids and their respective families, along with a collection of miniature furniture). Seen below with all of the shelves cleared off. The large brown square on the wall beside it is the electrical panel. This is at the bottom of the stairs. Yellow walls and laminate flooring.
And the “after”shots are below, taken at night so unfortunately the blinds are closed and the privacy stripes on the windows can’t be seen. I’ll upload a daytime picture later. For now we have painted walls, including the electrical panel, and carpeted floor.
And from a different angle....our family picture display is where the shelving unit used to be on the wall, before Leo tore it down.
We also removed the fake fireplace Leo’s father had built that was installed in the corner of our now family room. We weren’t sure at first if we should remove it, but I’m definitely glad we did. It opens the whole room up and makes it more functional. The picture below is the “before”shot...
And now for the after shot....we still need to paint the walls but for now the entire family loves spending time here. The futon is where the fireplace used to be and it is across from the wall mounted plasma television and in the corner of the room is our bar...which also has a mini fridge and microwave. When the kids have friends over the liquor goes away and the bar becomes their own with a fully stocked mini fridge filled with kids drinks and lots of munchies.
I think I’ll continue the basement reveal in another post. Stay tuned!
